Hello! I’m J. D.,

I grew up traveling with my parents. We spent eight years in Europe, and another three in New Zealand, before we returned to the United States and I finished high school and attended college in Florida. I married shortly after graduating and moved up to North Carolina.

Having recently been diagnosed with ADHD, I now know why I hated school and really struggled with it. I grew up masking and trying to be ‘normal’, and now, I’m having to unlearn all of that to learn how to be authentically and unapologetically me.

I’ve been writing seriously since 2009. I often participated in NaNoWriMo and even volunteered for my local region. I write mostly Urban and Contemporary Fantasy, with the occasional dabble into SciFi. I talk about my writing process a good bit on my YouTube Channel. I’ve published three full-sized novels (affiliate) and a few novellas.

I love reading Paranormal Romance, Urban Fantasy, Epic Fantasy, Cozy Romances, and Mysteries. Bonus points if any if the books feature LGBTQIA+ characters.

I have two children. Balancing mom-life and homeschooling with work-life can be very difficult to do. My hats off to all the parents out there.

In 2021, I was diagnosed with the autoimmune diseases Ankylosing Spondylitis and Psoriatic Arthritis. I often talk about it and its effect on my life over on my Instagram. I also showcase my planners, dogs, and projects there too, so it’s not all about chronic illness.

Follow my journey.
